The Vineyard
I have a question about verses 6-9. I don't understand why he said that parable. I can't relate it to what he was talking about in the previous verses. Can you explain it's meaning and why he said it. Thanks!

The passage is directly connected to the passage before. However, this time, Jesus focuses on the ones who truly are not doing what is right. In the passage before, he said that bad things don't happen because you are sinful and evil, but in fact happen to good people as well.
In this passage he is basically talking about God to people. God is the owner of the vineyard, the and Jesus is the caretaker. Remember in chapter 3 when John talked about every tree that does not bear fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire?
He there was talking about people that do not produce the fruit of the Spirit, and that it what Jesus is using the fig tree to symbolize. Basically he is saying that even though, if those people continue in sin and do not ever bear fruit they will eventually be cut down, Jesus is the mediator that asks for them to get a second chance. That is why the evil people do not die immediately.
Take for example Paul. He started as a firm follower of Judaism, as he talked about in Galatians. However, though he was killing many Christians, God gave him a second chance, and allowed Jesus to do some more prompting for him to turn his life around. He eventually did, and he produced a lot of fruit for the kingdom, and even is influential for God today. Thus, God gives people more time, though they don't start out good.

That wasn't an overly long post. Not very long at all, in fact. Is this everyone's first forum or something? It would also explain why everyone is obsessed with colors and smilies and over-the-topness in posts.

Those are typical discusion type posts.
And Chinua: Thanks! I was a bit confused about that, too. I had an idea, but I wasn't completely possitive.

Amen. Though that link in inaccessible, since we aren't members. so I'll provide one.
A forum I read, don't try to understand the content, but admire the length.

And that is a long post. Longer than even most I've seen. Average post is about 2/3 the size of Chinuas, but posts his length or longer are still plenty common.
You just have to care about what you're reading!
